The object of this stylistic study is LT, a novel by Sutan Takdir Alisjahbana. The way the Alisjahbana expresses his ideas can be seen from his choice of lexical items, sentence constutinons, and discourse style. He makes use of metaphore, simile, personification, tautology, and hyperbole in order to emphasize his idea, to emerge a wholehearted impression, and to attract the readers' interest. Syntactically, he uses both short and long sentences. They are combined to avoid a monotonous impression. Repetition, paralelism, rethorical questions, and elipsis are also used. In his choice of discourse he equally makes use of narration and pronouncement to get rid of monotonous traces. Alisjahbana uses a third-person omniscient narrator, Tuti, to express Alisjahbana's mind or thought. He also uses reverse time deictic expressions to draw both the reader and the writer closer to the characters.
