Some linguists have been using several terms such as adverbs, keterangan, and adjuncts to refer to a concept normally called "adverbial." Eventhough these terms do not deviate too far from the concept of adverbial that is normally understood, they sometimes have been used rather ambiguously, particularly, when they are considered from a certain point of view. For example, "adverb" has been used to refer to a slot of adverbial (of a sentence) instead of a word class. By utilizing certain examples that are produced in certain sources, this paper tries to study and explain such a problem to substantiate the concept and the cover term for the syntax functional slot that is commonly referred as adverbial.
