Scrutinizing the cultural traits found in an ethnic group such as the Javanese, we will find that many of these traits, which are reflected in idiomatic expressions, are presumably also found in other ethnic groups throughout the country. In our attempt to defme a national culture, it would be interesting to investigate these traits to fmd both similarities and dissimilarities. Those which are similar can be proposed as potentitally good candidates for our national culture.
