This article describes the influence of Minangkabau (BMIN) and Toba Batak Languages (BBT) on the Asahan Malay Language (BMA) in the areas of phonology, morphophonology, and parts of its lexicon diachronically. The bottom-up aprroach is based on the mutual intelligibility concept, migration theory, and sound correspondences. The results show that in BMA are found not only the BMIN and BBT influences but also phonemes, affixes, and archaic lexical items in other places of Asahan.
