Isi artikel
The first three articles in this special issue, iverson, kim and laczo / hanisch, can be viewed together. Each article is concerned with employee withdrawal. Iversib and Kim assume that turnover is a form of withdrawal, whereas laczo nd hanisch focus explicitly on withdrawal. The three articles however are different. Iverson estimates a causal model of turnover, whereas Kim estimates a model of intent to stay, which he terms behavioural commitment. Organizational research commonly uses intent to stay as a proxy for turnover. It is stated that kim, "estimates a model of turnover through intent to stay." Kim, however, is careful to note, as recent research (sager, griffeth, & him, 1998( indicates, that intent to stay may no tbe the closest variable to turnover in the causal sequence. Iverson's research is the preferred practice and has been the pattern most often followed by research on turnover.
