Pencak silat in essence is the outcome of the Indonesian nation that is developed from generation to generation till reaching its current shape. The development effort is intends to promote virtue and benefit the society’s life, in form of spiritual and bodily values. In some regions, pencak silat still plays an important role in custom ceremonies and its continuation is highly respected by society figures. This study aims to analyze and describe the meanings on the symbols embodied in the martial arts emblem of pencak silat and its representation towards the values of Pancasila. The study is based on the Ethnosemiotical approach. This analytical method on the cultural texts connects the understanding of reading the symbolic expressions represented in pencak silat. The results conclude that pencak silat contain four inter-related elements: sports, art, martial art and spiritual. A fighter (pesilat) is not only taught to know his physic and to develop his capability of increasing skill, but also to understand the nature of living. The symbolic entities on pencak silat emblem imply a concordance on the values between the form of its organizational principles which confirm the values of Pancasila. The Identification of such symbols indicates the active-enterprising which motivates the instillation of all the values of Pancasila, to maintain and strengthen the unity of the nation, the moving spirit of the nation which undertakes the national development and solve the arising problems in the life of the nation.
