Isi artikelCommunication skills are important as a means of sharing knowledge, information and ideas. In this case, a person who has competence in communication has its advantages, especially when competing for jobs. Communication is the process of how we create meaning between us and other people through the exchange of ideas, opinions and information with the aim and powered through symbols or gestures either oral or written. Thus, this paper discusses the strategies that can be used to improve communication skills among the students who should be started from the beginning. Teaching strategies discussed by researchers in this paper is 'Discussion Technique'. The discussion is a technique that requires students to share information and views on a matter proposed by the teacher and the teacher acts as a facilitator only. Through this study, researchers used the method of literature to describe the importance of communication skills and discussion techniques explained in the teaching and learning of the Malay language. The researchers also suggested measures to improve the application of the Technical Discussions communication skills in English language teaching and learning. Technical discussions are used during teaching and learning activities in the classroom that can facilitate students' understanding of the content of the lessons fun. Three teaching sessions conducted and data collected by observation and questionnaires. This study showed an increase in communication skills among the study participants after the action was based on issues that have been identified. The study participants were found to be more confident when communicating in groups and during communication in the audience. This technique is also available to assist students' understanding of the lesson content, increase student engagement in the classroom. It is hoped that this action research can help other students who have difficulties in communicating. The result shows that this technique has various interests that make up the self-confidence, the value of work, the attitude of tolerance, courage to express opinions, and to practice good manners during the discussion.
