This study is aimed at analyzing discourse strategies and finding linguistic features in Anis Matta’s speeches. This study is analyzed by using descriptive method. The reason of using the method was because the research deals with non-statistic data. Descriptive method study is used to expose and clearly describe the nature of spoken language which belonged into political speech in order to describe the rhetoric styles applied by Anis Matta during the speeches. The data collecting techniques were library and internet research. This study was analyzed by using Halliday’s Systemic Functional Grammar Theory, and Critical Discourse Analysis theory by Fairclough. There were five speeches that is analyzed in this study, i.e. inaugural speech, consolidation speech in West Java, Sulawesi, North Sumatera, and Jakarta. This study found that textual structure is the discourse strategies that is used by Anis Matta in recovering PKS’ images. To find the linguistic features, this study analyzed political messages consists of six elements i.e. transitivity, modality, pronoun reference, metaphor, religious register, and solidarity register. From six element of analysis i.e. transitivity that is 121, modality is 126, pronoun reference is 189, metaphor is 20, religious register is 78 and solidarity register is 85, it is found that the most dominant linguistic features in the study is Pronoun Reference that is 189 out of 619 or 31 %. The variation in this finding showed that Anis Matta tried to recover PKS images trough some linguistic features used. In terms of power, he tried to use his power as the new president to evade the bad issue. Therefore, the cadres and the party able to face and endure the problem.
