Isi artikelTeaching and learning of Malay language focus aspects of the language system. This is to ensure that the language skills among the students who will make their language users throughout its life. Because of the language is belong to community, the language must not only be understood but also mastered the grammar aspects of form and meaning. Therefore, this study will discuss the sociolinguistic aspects of language teaching. The aim of the study was to investigate how sociolinguistic aspects to be applied in teaching Malay language. The method of the study, which examined the frequency of use of sociolinguistic aspects in the teaching and learning of Malay language in primary schools. The respondents comprised of ten teachers teaching Malay language in schools around the district of Kubang Pasu. In Malay language teaching and learning in the classroom, teachers can enhance students' understanding and knowledge regarding some aspects of sociolinguistic research through oral activities, reading, and writing. Through this study, there are four important aspects of sociolinguistic approaches used in teaching language, namely the pronouns, diction, proverb and grammar aspect. Good knowledge and mastery of the Malay pronouns not only symbolizes a person is courteous and prudent, but mastering the various categories of social control in the community structure, which is manifested through various forms of language. Proverb is also important in the context of research, heritage and language skills of the user. Adjustable focus language linguistic features that involve elements of grammar and choice of words or lexis. Frequency of use of relatively balanced sociolinguistic aspects as part of these aspects have been included in the curriculum of Malay Language in primary school. Conclusion of this study, understand and apply the sociolinguistic element is very important for teachers to plan teaching and learning strategies. The researchers hope that more sociolinguistic aspects of the language used in the teaching, so that students can use in their life, especially when interacting with the local community.
