Isi artikelThis paper analyzes the pragmatics study in Kang Ibing’s speech, which focuses on illocutionary acts. This paper investigates the kinds of illocutionary acts and the illocution function used in Kang Ibing’s speech. This paper applies qualitative method as a tool of analysis which is recovering the types of illocutionary acts and the illocutionary function used in Kang Ibing’s speech. The result of the analysis show that there are two illocutionary acts used in Mang Ibing’s speech; representative and directive. Using representative illocutionary acts in his speech conveys his beliefs and he attempts to convince the audience to believe what he believes. While, using directive illocutionary acts in his speech shows what his intention to ask audience do something. Furthermore, there are two illocutionary function applied in Mang Ibing’s Speech; collaborative and competitive. There are six collaborative function in representative illocutionary act showing that Kang Ibing wants to build collaboration with the audience. Illocutionary function in directive illocutionary act is competitive. The most illocutionary function in directive illocutionary acts is competitive showing competing with the social purposes such as commanding, suggestion, advicing, and forbidding.
