In a process of communication, sometimes people tend to use some words which are look like have the same meaning to refer to something. In other words, the use of these words cannot be distinguished in spoken by them, although these words might be different each other. It can be seen from how people use words such as gadis, perawan, dara, putri and cewek. According to KBBI gadis: Anak perempuan yang belum kawin. While perawan: Anak perempuan yang sudah patut kawin; Belum pernah bersetubuh dengan laki-laki; masih murni. On the other hand dara: Anak perempuan yang belum kawin. Meanwhile putri: anak perempuan raja, anak perempuan,wanita. Whereas Cewek : sebutan kepada wanita atau perempuan yang masih muda. Based on the phenomenon, this study tries to analyze the use of words “gadis”, “perawan”, “dara”, “putri”, and “cewek” in Indonesian language by looking the most frequency collocates of each word. The data are taken from the Indonesian Corpus which is derived from Leipzig Corpora. Research question for this study is “what are the collocates of words “gadis”, “perawan”, “dara”, “putri”, and “cewek”? Moreover, the method used in this study is quantitative method based on data that are gathered using Leipzig Corpora. From the data analysis above, the result shows that the collocates of the word “gadis” often followed by: cantik, remaja, belia, menikahi, muda. While the word “perawan” are followed: Maria, wanita, tua, janda, suci. Then, the word “dara”: selaput, kelahiran, cantik, vagina, seksual. Next for the word “putri” was followed: tunggal, remaja, ganda, medali, tim. And the last is “cewek”: cantik, bugil, pacar, seksi, matre. Based on those collocates from the data taken, it shows that the word “gadis” tend to have a polite meaning in its use and symbolize a young age. While, the word “perawan” refers to something old, religious and holy. Then, the word “dara” tends to related with sexuality. While, “putri” used in a formal situation or in the event of competition. Last, the word “cewek” tends to have meaning to appearance.
