Isi artikelPreparing English Language and Culture Department learners to be global speakers of English require certain strategy in order to empower their status as Multilingual English User. As a way to boost positive identity as MEU, new framework of cultural teaching should be introduced (Harumi, 2002) which is by directing it towards intercultural. Investigating the presence cross cultural studies influence towards learners’ belief system on English as global language, this study found that although the cross cultural studies are not integrated in one subject, introduction towards inner circle countries (Australian, American, and British studies) does not shape students belief with knowledge that English is closely attached with those countries. This finding supports Kramsch (1993) and Byram (1998) that learning a language does not linked directly with particular culture.
