Isi artikelThe objectives of this research are to find out the techniques and ideologies which are used to translate the terms in magical world in a novel entitled Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban (1999) by J.K Rowling and to find out the dominant technique and ideology. The theories used in this research are theories from Molina and Albir (2002) and Newmark (1988) about translation strategy and Venuti (1995) to explain translation ideology. This research is a qualitative research. The method of collecting data uses note- taking technique. The data in this research are terms in magical world. This research only uses primer data. The data are selected by purposive sampling technique and will be analyzed interpretatively. The sources of data in this research are Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban (1999) by J.K. Rowling and its Indonesian version Harry Potter dan Tawanan Azkaban which was translated by Listiana Srisanti in 2001. The result of the research shows the dominant technique used is literal translation and the dominant ideology is domestication.
