A number of translation scholars argue that the method used in journalistic text translation is mostly free translation. However, translation conducted for a bilingual newspaper that is published side-by-side might apply a different method. This paper aims to discover the technique used in bilingual newspaper translation with the assistance of several corpus tools. The data were taken from a bilingual newspaper published in Jakarta, Indonesia. The results show that there are similarities of the frequency of words or phrases and the sentencing format between the source text and the target text. Hence, the method(s) applied for this type of newspaper cannot be free translation.
