Isi artikelOver the past years, teachers have used translation to enhance students’ skill in English language. There are even various studies or research which shows that translation has been used for a long time to identify students’ capability in English. Unfortunately, even though translation activities forces students to communicate both ways: into and from the foreign language, whether or not students can really be successful in learning English by translating is still questionable. This study then aims to identify whether or not students can learn a language especially English by using translation method. This study uses the qualitative method in getting the result, and also based on a brief theoretical literature, the analysis of the activities in the language classroom, and the analysis of the data of the survey. The findings of the survey suggest that translation can be used in the English language learning course in order to enhance students’ foreign language skills.
