Isi artikelNew Bar Mill of Tata Steel produces re-bars of 12m length. Any short length bar generated is manually segregated leading to yield loss. The Suspected Sources of Variations were subjected to Paired Comparison which revealed that the cutting cycle time of the dividing shear, is the primary source of the variation. Length integrator for the shears were mapped onto data recorders and it was found that factor “initial distance” were getting loaded into the program in a random manner. Supervisory Programs which would be field device triggered were developed and short bar generation fell from 6.63% (till Jan’10) to 2.4% in Mar’10.
