As organization strive to increase their triple bottom line performance in this highly competitive environment, they often forget to integrate and synergies of two important dimension of business i.e. Total Quality Management (TQM) and Sustainable development (SD). This is likely due to lack of understanding of cause and effect relationship between strategy, quality, profitability and sustainable development. Sustainable development divides performance of organization in three indicators as Economic, Environment, Ethics (Social responsibility). “Because the main language of business (corporate management) is money, there emerged the concept of studying quality related cost as a means of communication. Joseph Juran (Leading quality guru) has been advocating the analysis since 1951. Total quality management (TQM) over the years has been proven a great path for economic performance; it is very interesting to review the synergies of two concept of Total quality management (TQM) and sustainable development (SD). To maximize the profits of an organization it is necessary to align the objective and priorities of business and sustainable development improvement process. A sound profit is necessary in business cases, but it is not the sole condition for economic sustainability. In the present paper the Cost of Quality (COQ) is discussed as economic sustainability indicator and exemplified.
