As an extended arm of Indian Railways to professionalize Catering Services, Tourism & Travel related services on Indian Railways and also outside the Railways in the Country, IRCTC started its full-fledged operation since 2001. Various activities of the Company include Catering Services, Tourism, Internet Ticketing, Rail Neer & 139 Rail Sampark. Catering Services being the major activity of the corporation and hence, it is a major focus area of customer satisfaction. We are providing catering services onboard, at stations and outdoor through more than 130 base kitchens, 50 food plazas and more than 8500 stalls under the jurisdiction of the Company at A, B & C class of stations. Due to increased customer expectation and control pricing not revised since past ten years, various tools and techniques have been adopted to major customer satisfaction, Food Safety & Hygiene Audit, ISO certification of catering units, monitoring mechanism for complaints and inspections so as to provide enhanced Standard of catering services. A systematic approach for identifying major problem area by applying Pareto Analysis to find out major problem areas and Fish-bone diagram to conduct Cause Analysis for improvement methods and subsequent business process reengineering has been adopted.
