The ethylene consumption in Oxy Chlorination of VCM (Vinyl Chloride Monomer) process was reduced by special quality tools. Path Diagram Analysis was used to understand the process and find out the possible causes. Reversed hypothesis test and multiple regression with interaction and quadratic relationship were used identify the root causes and optimal solutions. The results showed the ethylene consumption as well as operation cost was reduced significantly.
