Isi artikelPVC toilet door was prevented from sulfur staining phenomenon by task achieving QC story. Trade off between qualities and cost normally undergo by traditional problem solving with simple tools and could not achieve specified business target. This QC story could find an optimal solution of qualities and cost by applying a special quality tool, design of experiment (DOE). Team’s brain storming was formed to define 3 response variables of qualities and cost then listed up 11 potential factors. Path diagram was created to draft out their relationship. Plackett-Burman design, 12 runs DOE, was used to study the relationship between factors and response variables. The factors affecting impact strength property and cost were found as well as the solution for preventing sulfur staining was proved. Response optimizer gave the optimal solution of qualities and cost. The qualities were improved to conform with Thai Industrial Standard, while the cost remained.
