Isi artikel
Statistical Process control aims to maintain the consistency in the output coming from the process and achieve variation less than specification limits. It is used for achieving stability (statistical control) and also process capability. When process is stable and capable it is possible to predict the quality of product coming output of the process and move from 100% inspection to sampling inspection. Generally, in process industry it is not possible to have 100% inspection due to nature of the product. So sampling is inevitable. If the process is not consistent defective products may reach next operations due to sampling error. So it is important have stable process which produces consistent products. Statistical Process control is about checking the product parameters and making the conclusion whether process is stable and capable of producing output within specifications. It is about identifying abnormality and taking corrective actions. Process industries like chemical, steel, cement where application of SPC is extremely useful and can achieve tangible benefits. The authors would like to share their experience in challenges found in application of SPC in process industry and approach they had to adopt to counter the challenges in their last 3 year of consultancy experience.
