Instrumentation and control systems used in nuclear power plants consist of some control modules which are operated independently. These systems are designed around standardized family of microcomputer based circuit modules, which are qualified to the requirements of the nuclear power plant. Reliability analysis of standardized microcomputer circuit modules were carried out using the analysis package based on the methodology and database of MIL-STD-217F. This paper discusses the reliability methods obtained for the microcomputer circuit modules and a representative safety critical instrumentation and control system-programmable digital comparable system.
