Isi artikel
Benchmarking denotes a group of methodologies for exercising a set of qualitative and / or quantitative comparisons among a group of similar organizations and thereon evolving ideas for improvements in the organization under consideration. Many consider process level intervention through learning is only true benchmarking. Since 1980’s, a large number of both manufacturing and service industries all over the world have been applying benchmarking to improve their organizational performance. But so far Education sector is concerned; benchmarking has found limited applications only in selected Institutions of North America, Europe and Australia. Accreditation is a voluntary process that aims to ensure enduring quality, accountability and improvement of educational institutions based on a process of continuous review through a set of pre-defined criteria (Standard) conducted by recognized external agency. Such accreditation has of late been gaining currency among Indian Educational Institutions. This paper demonstrates that benchmarking can be applied by leveraging accreditation process. Two cases of such application have been outlined in the paper.
