Isi artikel
Hospital-associated infections (HAIs) are infections that patients acquire during the course of receiving treatment for other conditions in the hospital. The surveillance of HAI in the high-risk settings such as ICU is an integral feature of infection control. The HAI rates in terms of 1000 device-days reduced from 11.13 to 2.31 for ventilator-associated pneumonia, from 3.97 to 1.44 for catheter-related bloodstream infection and from 10.49 to 6.83 for catheter-associated urinary tract infection for year 2009 when compared with the previous year. This proves that the proactive approach in having stringent infection control program has helped in reducing HAI rate.
