Management Systems like Environmental Management System (EMS), Occupational Health & Safety Management System (OHSMS), Food Safety Management System (FSMS) and Energy Management System (EnMS) start from assessment of the current situation and then identifying the threats or weaknesses in the system so that those could be eliminated or reduced to an acceptable limit. Unfortunately ISO 9001 standard on Quality Management System (QMS) does not recommend an exercise of this nature. In this paper, an attempt has been made in suggesting a way to Quality Risk Assessment (QRA) in the adaptation of QMS. The methodology of assessments in qualitative and quantitative terms for each activity in an organization are on the basis of are author’s own perception and understanding in the context of EMS, OHSMS, FSMS and EnMS, which he tries to instillate in QMS. The author aims to trigger a thought process in that direction so that QRA in QMS could find a place in the next version of ISO 9001.
