Isi artikelTata Steel has been pursuing TQM and Business Excellence formally since the late 1980s. Since then, we have got ourselves assessed by various agencies and won many prizes including the coveted Deming Application Prize in 2008. In the process of preparing the organization for these awards, we have realized that in order to sustain the improvements achieved through these activities we need to build TQM into the DNA of our organization. Tata Steel is an integrated steel company with a large (˜40000) and diverse workforce. In order to build a culture of improvement, these forty thousand employees have to be included in our TQM journey. This will thus help in creating power and insulating the organization from the turbulence created by the external environment.
