Isi artikelSouth Asia, of which both India and Pakistan are the dominate countries, is home to more than 1.5 billion people. Though South Asia is one of the fastest economic growth regions of the World, trade within the countries in the region is low, roughly 4.5% as compared to 25% in the ASEAN region. This paper is based on extracts from a detailed study on the nature of relationships between Indian and Pakistani businesses. It briefly explores the historical reasons for the low levels of trade within the South Asian Region and builds a case for economic growth, and the resulting peace dividends, through trade normalization within South Asia. The paper looks at the role that business could play in order to create mutual dependence between conflicting nations, thereby bringing harmony, peace, and prosperity to the region.
