Isi artikel
One of revisions of Government Regulation number 19 Year 2005 becomes Government Regulation number 13 Year 2015 regarding national standard of education is that the government does not use National Examination (NE) result as one of bases to determine students’ graduation from schools has led the writer to investigate some wasback effects of English National Examination after this revision on English teachers’ teaching process in the areas of teaching process, teaching materials, and time allotment. To investigate the issue the writer distributed questionnaire that covers the areas of teaching methods, teaching materials, and time allotment regarding the washback of NE on teachers’ teaching process. Based on data collections it was found that English National Examination influences the way teachers teach English in high intensity and it is said to have negative washback. These findings suggest that the government need to identify and examine cases where washback is thought to have happened and to see how and why it did or did not happen.
