Isi artikelThis study was done in one of the soft drinks manufacturer industries in Jakarta, which has some fine series of bottles filler machines. In 2013, something has happened to the machine a down time for 3 hours which may cause the chain pin broken on the linier filler machine The purpose of this study is to analyze the damage problem on the machine and to maintain pin chain Several tests have been done such as the hardness test, chemical composition test, and metallographic test. The test result of broken material is seen that the type of material that is used is SS 431. It's seen from pin chemical composition doesn't change everything, it is suitable with standard material, the broken point at middle of chain pin. Metallographic test shows on the pin area can be found temper martesite structure and rough grain so become hard and brittle, finally is easy to happen fault. The strength of pin meet the design criteria, the torque happened as big as 7987 Nm, it is seen from shear stress that happened as big as 490 N/mm2. The reliability of 90% is achieved if is checked of chain and pin at the seventy tree of day after changing and replacement of the new chain pin with the same type.
