It needs more than the ability of acquiring two or more languages. It is more than to translate the words, phrases, and sentences from source language (SL) to target language (TL). Translating the movie means the translators have to reconstruct the story in such way audiences understand it as closely as it was in the original language. The translators need to keep the beauty, grace, humorous, fun, fear, and other senses of the movie when it is transferred in target language (TL). The audience should be able to understand and enjoy the movie in target language (TL) with the same passionate while it was presented in source language (SL). Moreover, there is also a limitation for the number of words presenting in the screen. So, the translators need to work hard on the appropriate dictions in order to be able to have a good translation. In this research, we are going to analyze the translation work of Kung fu Panda Movie (English version versus Indonesian version). Kung Fu Panda is an animated action comedy martial arts movie. The movie’s genre is a family movie. The audiences consist of the whole family member, from father to children. Therefore, the language used should be simple and easy to understand. The translators need to find strategies how to translate the Kung Fu Panda movie, so it could be greatly enjoyed by all audiences. The aim of this paper is to find what are strategies used in translating the “Kung Fu Panda” animation movie from English to Indonesia. The strategies involve both translation methods and procedures. The researchers will employ both the qualitative and quantitative methods. The qualitative method is used to analyze the translation strategies applied in the movie transcription. The quantitative method is used to do the simple statistics regarding the percentage of translation strategies used by the translators.
