Isi artikelThe educational application of the Web 2.0 has increasingly gaining great attention. Especially, there are many needs for e-Learning professional's roles and competencies in Web 2.0 environment. Because e-Learning field has been developed for many years. However, few studies have explored the e-Learning professional's competencies. Thus, this study first, explored educational characteristics of Web 2.0. Also, implications of Web 2.0 from e-Learning perspectives were also examined. Finally, e-Learning professional's roles and competencies were suggested. What is Web 2.0? According to the Wikipedia, Web 2.0 is “a term that describes changing trends in the use of WWW technology and web design that aims to enhance creativity, secure information sharing, collaborating, and functionality of the web”. We can use Web 2.0 technologies to retrieve information and interact with other people. The most important feature of Web 2.0 is to provide learners with a learning environment that enables anyone to participate and to utilize various information. This unique feature emphasizes learnercentered learning, a variety of learning activities, and active interaction with other learners during learning in such environments(Alexander, 2006; Downes, 2007; Ferretti, Mirri, Muratori, Roccetti, & Salomoni, 2008; Wesch, 2007; Zheng, 2010). Richey, Fields, and Foxon(2001, p.32) refer to competency as “A knowledge, skill, or attitude that enables one to effectively perform the activities of a given occupation or function to the standards expected in employment”. The enhanced communications and connectivity afforded by Web 2.0technologies challenges existing roles of human resources professionals. Given that e-Learning professionals’ roles are not clearly identified in the age of Web 2.0, the competencies are also expected to encompass many domains that are constantly changing. If then, do e-Learning professionals have the competency to address these changes? Are existing competencies valid or do they require any changes? To answer these questions, key competencies were reviewed about competencies domain from ASTD(2004). Extensive reviews of literatures on Web 2.0technologies were also conducted. Key points in the competencies were identified in order to reflect the changes implied by Web 2.0services. summarizes current competencies at the ASTD 2004 competency model and the key points that need to be enhanced regarding the competencies in the age of Web 2.0.

Enhanced e-Learning professional's competencies in Web 2.0age are suggested in three competency domains: interpersonal competency, business/management competency, and personal competency. Implications about e-Learning professional's roles and competencies are suggested. Web 2.0has enormous potential to change the way people work, thus providing an new way of making a significant contribution to their job, their organization. The effect of employing the emerging new technologies will bring out fundamental changes in e-Learning professionals roles. Identifying specific roles for e-Learning professionals may be no longer important in the age of Web 2.0. Most important is that e-Learning professionals should be aware of changes in contextual needs and dynamically integrate them in e-Learning practice. Thus, e-Learning professionals must be prepared to address these trends in order to be successful in their work.
