Cloud computing is the latest effort in delivering computing resources as a service. Using an integrated approach based on Cloud Computing may be a solution to obtain the agility and quick access to technology, with the achievement of savings at institution level. In addition, the solution may offer new opportunities to improve practices and attain innovation, would contribute to the enhancement of research, course delivery, course management, and other aspects of institutional development. This paper provides a framework based on Cloud computing in higher education, focusing on the implementation need and benefits. It also presents the current state of Bangladeshi universities regarding the implementation of cloud based solutions especially for higher education. It also carries out a study of the possibility of adoption of cloud computing as a vehicle for collaboration among higher educational institutes of Bangladesh. This study uncovers challenges to the adoption of cloud technology by the higher educational institutions. The key challenges that significantly affect the adoption of cloud computing are mainly attitudinal and infrastructural issues that impose limitations on the ability of implementing cloud computing.
