Isi artikelThis literature review presents an overview of scholarly work that has been published in the field of transnational education with a focus on the experiences of visiting professors. Although there is a dearth of empirical research on this topic, what is largely understood is that visiting professors need to learn of and to integrate these localized aspects of social, political and cultural understandings in their work and to engage their presence as visiting professors to promote intercultural dialogue in their higher education classrooms. Without this type of awareness, student learning and work relationships may not reach their full potential.
