Isi artikelAir washer could be easily found in textile, cement, and pharmacy industries. This equipment is used for air cleaning by entrapping airborne particle with water sprays or cell. Air that processed by an air washer will be cooled and humidified, as well as cleaned. The humidification of air in most of air washer applications result in cool-wet air, and it is not healthy to inhale the air. To produce air that dry and healthy, the humidification process should be changed to dehumidification. This process needs a continuous cold water supply with a temperature below the air dew point. In this research, a refrigeration system for providing cold water is installed in cell-type and spray-type washer. The research shows that the refrigeration system capacity is sufficient to continuously supply cold water for the air washer. However, the contact factor and the efficiency are considered low. For cell-type air washer, the contact factor and the efficiency are 0.58 and 53%, respectively. For spray-type air washer, the contact factor is 0.52, while the air washer efficiency is 51%.
