Prabowo Subianto, a 2014 presidential candidate of Indonesia, shared his vision through an open letter in his official facebook account. This open letter is interesting to explore since every political action is prepared, accompanied, influenced and played by language (Horváth, 2012).The data were collected through observation method and documentation technique. Furthermore, this qualitative study used Critical Discourse Analysis approach (Fairclough) and the framework identified (Chouliaraki and Fairclough, 1999) to explore how Prabowo Subianto constructs his identity to his readers. Finally, the analysis of Prabowo Subianto’s open letter showed how the grammatical features of modality and evaluation have realized process of identification in the discourse.
