Isi artikelProcess writing has become an accepted certainly common approach. This process approach is focused on the process of the writers going through the production of the texts. Several studies reported that process approach is an effective approach for teaching writing. Dealing with the issue, this study investigated the implementation of process approach in teaching writing. To this aim, one of High School English teacher in Cimahi was involved as the respondent in this study. Semi-structured interview and non-participant observation were used to collect the data. The collected data were analyzed by categorizing the data based on the theory purposed. The results show that all stages of the process approach in teaching writing suggested by the theories were not implemented completely and appropriately by the teacher. The stages involving prewriting; drafting; and publishing were conducted, while revising and editing stage was not employed by the teacher because of the limitation of the time. Also, teacher did not explain the genre of the text to students in pre-writing stage. With respect to these findings, it is suggested for the teacher to follow all the stages in implementing process approach in teaching writing completely and appropriately. Indeed, the explanation to the students about the concept of good writing needs to be delivered by the teacher so that the students can write well.
