Isi artikelThis research was conducted to measure the anxiety problem that students had in public speaking class. Lectures of Public Speaking subject gave two tests for midterm test and final test. They assigned the students to perform informative speech and persuasive speech. During the teaching – learning process, they found out that some of students were good when they did in daily performance but had lack ability when it came to the test session. Researchers used The Foreign Language Classroom Anxiety Scale (FLCAS) developed by Horwitz et al (1986) as the instruments. Twenty six students in fifth semester at English Department academic year 2014-2015, were given FLCAS questionnaire. The FLCAS contains 33 items using a five-point Likert scale, which ranges from “Strongly Agree” to “Strongly disagree.” It measures students’ self-reports regarding anxiety by adding up the ratings on the 33 items. The FLCAS’s construct comprises four factors: (1) communication apprehension; (2) anxiety about the language learning process and situation; and (3) comfort in using English both inside and outside the classroom; (4) negative attitudes towards language learning. The aim of this research was to found out the main problem of students’ public speaking in foreign language class.
