Teaching grammar is a controversial issue since the past centuries. Some people believe that teaching grammar is not important for the reason that eligibility is the most important thing in English. On the other hand, some people think that grammar is too important to be ignored. This research studies the relationship between teacher’s beliefs about teaching grammar and its classroom practice. The previous research found that teachers have complex belief about grammar and grammar teaching, but what they believe is not reachable in the classroom practices. The research was conducted to investigate the teacher’s beliefs in the way grammar should be taught and their classroom practices in the area of English as foreign language. This research employed a qualitative research using interview and classroom observation as the data collection techniques. The data were analyzed and interpreted to get the final results. The results demonstrate that what teacher believed about teaching grammar was not reflected in the classroom practice. It therefore can be concluded that there were contradiction facts between teacher’s beliefs and her classroom practice in teaching grammar. It is recommended that the English teachers have to know what the teaching approaches they have, the communicativeness in grammar teaching activity, and the English teaching professionalism in order to improve the educational standard by making positive changes in teaching grammar.
