Isi artikelUnmanned underwater vehicles (UUV) have become powerful and important tools for exploring and monitoring our water resources. Since these vehicles do not need to breathe underwater, they definitely can dive deeper and stay longer underwater than us humans. This significantly reduces risks and provides safety for humans for such difficult underwater tasks. Numerous researches have been conducted to design an unmanned underwater vehicle but most of them are too costly to be developed and implemented. This research discusses a low-cost hardware design and development of an unmanned underwater vehicle from off-the-shelves materials such as aluminum bars, food containers, and converted bilge pumps. This research also includes the electrical design of the vehicle including the power supply, wiring and power distribution boards. Electronic components such as navigational sensors and microcontrollers are also implemented in the design for the vehicle’s autonomous navigation. Aside from being cost-effective, the other advantages of the proponents’ design include simplicity in hardware construction and the need for few mechanical components which in turn allows simple controls for navigation.
