The concepts of quality improvement, lot-size, service level constraints, and setup cost reduction is applied to a continuous-review (Q, r) inventory model. We adopt a distribution free approach in which only the first two moments of the lead time demand distribution are assumed to be known. Then, the total system cost is minimized with respect to the decision variables against the worst possible distribution. We prove the benefit of using quality improvements and setup cost reduction. Numerical examples show that our model improves over existing models significantly.
