Isi artikelThe Online Electric Vehicle (OLEV) has revolutionized the transportation system of modern day world. These vehicles employ electromagnetic induction by the power transmitters buried beneath the roads. In contrast to the conventional electric vehicles, which require certain charging downtime, the OLEV remotely picks electric power from the buried Inductive Cables during their operation. The commercial success of this innovative transportation system, as well as its installation costs depends on the right allocation of power transmitters and the battery sizes. The system has to guarantee operational stability, while pursuing for minimum installation costs. This complex OLEV system has been expressed in terms of highly non-linear, multi-dimensional problem. Therefore, particle swarm optimization (PSO) has been used to solve the problem. In this paper, we introduce OLEV System, with multiple routes, along with its several optimization issues. The usefulness of particle swarm optimization for solving complex problems has also been discussed. This paper also includes a numerical example of OLEV system, which is solved through an adjusting process of particle swarm optimization algorithm, demonstrating its effectiveness for solving complex problems.
