Isi artikelThe On-Line Electric Vehicle (OLEV) is the transportation system recently developed by Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST), which utilizes the revolutionary wireless charging technology. The transportation system consists of the electric vehicle units and the charging infrastructures installed under the road. The battery in the vehicle is charged wirelessly from the charging infrastructure. The technology is revolutionary in that the battery is charged while the vehicle is in motion. In this paper, we present the optimization model to determine the allocation of the charging infrastructure using Mixed Integer Programming (MIP). The problem is motivated from the actual deployment plan of the OLEV currently being planned. The Metropolitan City of Gumi is currently planning to apply the OLEV based transportation system to the bus routes circulating in the city. Where to allocate the charging infrastructure in the routes and how to deploy the infrastructure within the budget are the key investment decisions. In this paper, we present the optimization problem to allocate the OLEV infrastructure for planned investment stages. The total budget of the OLEV deployment is divided into multiple budgetary stages. The optimization problem determines the allocation plan for each budgetary stage while meeting the given budget and the service requirement.
