Isi artikel
In the traditional production lines such as assembly lines, usually each worker is assigned to a particular fixed work, and it is valuated to decrease the task to master the assigned work. However, when the imbalance between workers' speeds exists, if any worker will delay the overall work in the production line, the production rate of the particular line will also decrease. For avoiding this problem, "Self-Balancing Production Line" was introduced. In this type of production line, each worker is assigned work dynamically, thus they can keep the balanced production under satisfying the specific conditions. Previous paper of learning has been published (Armbruster et al., 2007). When a worker learns, the worker's speed can be increased. In that paper, they analyzed the condition with and without passing and they claimed that if passing is allowed, self-balancing can be achieved. However, even if initial sequence is slowest to fastest (this is the best sequence for self-balance in previous paper (Bartholdi et al., 1996)), and passing is allowed, it takes more much time to balance for some conditions of speed and degree of learning (we call this learning rate). Therefore, new work policy that changes the sequence before passing should be considered to balance rapidly. In this paper, the work policy that changes the sequence under learning is proposed, and to verify the policy, numerical experiment is done under various conditions of speed and learning rate.
