Currently, research in feature recognition system assumes that 2D technical drawing is fully defined (geometrically drawn ideal). In practical implementation, technical drawing found in industries are not fully defined yet. Thus, any good feature recognition will not recognize the feature correctly and completely. This paper proposes a preprocessing method in order to fully define technical drawing. The pre-processing determines connectivity, horizontal/vertical straightness, entity segmentation, deleting entity duplication, checking entity type, classification of entity form and classification of two concentric circles. Implementation of the pre-processing algorithm of several drawings from industries reveals: an increase of 20% hole features recognized and 69% increase of milling features recognized
