Isi artikelWith the recent advancement in technology, gesture interfaces have received attention in the industrial field as well as in the academic field. However, a behavioral intention to use the gesture interfaces has seldom been investigated. According to technology acceptance model (TAM), the behavioral intention is significantly influenced by a perceived usefulness of a system. The purpose of this research is to develop a scale of the perceived usefulness for gesture interfaces. To achieve this, twelve items related to gesture attributes were first derived through a comprehensive review of the literature. Then, multi-items measurement scales were developed based on the twelve items. Secondly, a survey with 80 participants was conducted using the developed scale. Finally, an exploratory factor analysis (EFA) was conducted to determine a possible structure for the perceived usefulness of gesture interfaces. As a result, twelve items were categorized into three principal components: contact-free, naturalness, and free expression. The result of this study could be used as recourses to select devices or functions for applying gesture interfaces.
