Taguchi proposed a concept of quality loss as a measure to evaluate the quality of items based on variable property instead of attribute property. By introducing this concept of quality loss into the area of statistical quality control, Arizonoet al. specified the variable single sampling plan on operating characteristics indexed by quality loss.By the way, Robert proposed the attribute repetitive group sampling plan on operating characteristics instead of the attribute single sampling plan on operating characteristics. Then, the attribute repetitive group sampling plan proposed by Robert can be understood as more efficient sampling plan from the viewpoint of comparison of the required number of samples, since the required number of samples in this plan is averagely less than that of the traditional attribute single sampling plans. In this study, for the purpose of improving the efficiency of the variable sampling plan on operating characteristics indexed by quality loss proposed by Arizonoet al., it is considered to construct the variable sampling plan by adopting repetitive group sampling scheme. Specifically, it is presented that the design procedure for finding out the required sample size and inspection criteriain the considered sampling plan for assuring the desired operating characteristics indexed by quality loss. It is guaranteed in theory that the proposed sampling plan satisfies the desired operating characteristics and the average sample number in the proposed inspection plan is smaller than one of the traditional variable sampling plan. The effectiveness of the design procedure for proposed sampling plan is shown by the numerical results under some conditions of quality loss. In addition, the features of the designed sampling plans are also illustrated through the computer simulation.
