Reading literary texts for comprehension in a foreign language is a problem facing many teachers. This article deals with an experimental approach to reading in which the assigned text was supplemented by tapes and mimeographed s h e e t s to provide a multi-skill format. In a classroom situation, it was found t h a t t h e experiment helped students to comprehend better and appreciate t h e story, while a t the same time enriching their vocabulary and improving their listening comprehension.
