Isi artikel
During the last ten years, the second language teacher has been presented with a plethora of innovative ideas, many of which suggest additions to an already crowded curriculum or demand more work from an already overworked teacher. This paper presents a model to help teachers cope with this problem. Called "Core Plus Open Time," the model includes the definition of basic content for all students, followed by diagnosis, which in turn leads to a series of reinforcement and enrichment activities. Variations of the basic model are applied to three levels of instruction. There is discussion of how best to define t h e core content, as well as suggestions concerning effective instructional modes.
