Isi artikelAn instructor of French discusses her introduction to the Lozanov (suggestopedic) approach to learning and teaching. For five weeks she observed a highly trained instructor teaching an introductory French class at McGill University in Montreal. Using the suggestopedic approach, she eventually taught the same level in an American liberal arts college under the supervision of the Canadian teacher. This holistic method uses long dialogues, communication activities, songs, and games in a relaxed, non-threatening atmosphere, and baroque music is played during the presentation of new material. Careful orchestration of these elements favors group interaction, development of creativity, and growth of human memory.
