Isi artikelThis ‘article presents a method for familiarizing intermediate language students with grammatical concepts through library research. Using recent periodical literature, students are assigned to seek examples of language presented in class and write them on a standard form. Through class discussion of their examples, students discover grammatical concepts in contemporary usage. Simultaneously “detecting grammar in action,” students increase their vocabulary and gain familiarity with conducting library research in a foreign language essential to more advanced work or graduate study. Since this type of assignment requires a careful search and subsequent explanation of the examples found, students intending to become foreign language teachers particularly benefit from this technique
